EXPANDING upon its iconic dress codes, Helmut Lang’s Resort 2025 collection showcases Peter Do’s interest in versatility and practicality. With pieces designed to fit any occasion, the latest seasonal offering delves into how New Yorkers dress for the changing seasons.
Garment-dyed sweats juxtapose tuxedo suiting and structural silhouettes, whereas sequinned knitwear brings glamour and sophistication to evening attire.
“That tension and duality is what makes Helmut Lang interesting. We want to offer a wardrobe for you to be yourself,” adds Peter Do, creative director of Helmut Lang.
For men, the outdoors becomes the focal point of the ensemble. Featuring a natural, organic colour palette of earthy green, brown and blue hues, the collection breathes life into casual dressing. The mohawk hoodie and New York t-shirt appear reimagined and reinterpreted with a vintage feel, further elevating the relaxed forms of the collection. Meanwhile, tailored trousers with elastic waistlines work in tandem with the brand’s signature denim pieces for a beautiful mélange of informal and formal dress.
The womenswear taps into similar themes, with twisted knits and second skin separates adding freedom and fluidity to the collection. Textures and material bring subtle contrasts and a subversive flair, seen with lace dresses and flocked velvet denim.
Staying true to its minimalist, utilitarian aesthetic, the brand places an emphasis on delicate, tailored minutiae. From cut-off collars to curved sleeves and pant legs, Resort 2025 is all about openness and a care-free attitude.
“Giving the wearer the freedom to choose how they wear their clothes is super important to me,” Do says. “And easy care is the ultimate luxury.”
With deconstructed puffer vests acting as seasonal armour against New York’s winter frost and refined suiting exemplifying Do’s signature style, it’s evident that the latest collection continues to display Do’s dynamism and know-how. Following his appointment as creative director in 2023, the Vietnamese designer has captured the attention of fashion cognoscenti worldwide for his ability to adopt Helmut Lang’s eclectic spirit.
Now, Resort 2025 is a continuation of this energy. Having designed many pieces in machine washable fabrics, the collection is an ode to Helmut Lang’s everyday dress, craftsmanship and instantly recognisable sartorial signifiers.
